Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Leo’ was released amid huge expectations and opened to an above average response among film buffs and critics. Vijay’s presence, a few action blocks, Manoj Paramahamsa’s visuals and Anirudh’s background score stood out in the movie.
The action drama was expected to shatter several records at the box office. Amid various figures doing the rounds, the makers have now announced the film’s first day worldwide collection.
The Vijay-starrer has earned 148.50 crores, making it the biggest opener among Indian projects this year. It is also the biggest ever opener in the history of Tamil cinema.
Though several movie lovers predicted that Leo is likely to emerge as the biggest Kollywood opener, the official figures have surpassed their expectations. It has to be seen how the film performs at the box office in the coming days.
