DMK launches anti NEET signature campaign in Chennai

Tambaram: Tamil Nadu Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin launched DMK’s signature campaign ‘NEET Vilaku, Naam Ilakku’ (NEET Abolition, Our Goal) to get 50 lakh signatures within 50 days against the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET) at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai on Saturday.

Launching the campaign, Udhayanidhi recorded his signature against NEET on a digital screen while CM Stalin recorded the first sign through a postal ballot.

The campaign is a joint effort of DMK’s youth, students and medical wings. The signatures can be sent through a website designed for the campaign or via a postcard.

Addressing the people, Udhayanidhi Stalin said, “Though DMK has launched the Anti-Neet Signature campaign, it should be taken forward as a people’s campaign. AIADMK should also join the campaign.”

Tamil Nadu lost 22 lives from Anitha to Jagadeeswaran due to NEET, he recalled.

Further, he said, the signatures will be given to CM Stalin during the DMK’s Youth Wing Conference on December 30. Further, it will be sent to President Droupadi Murmu

Tamil Nadu Minister said, “Some said that the NEET exam would produce a quality doctor and also said they don’t have to purchase medical seats for money.”

“But what happened? Do you know how many marks should be scored in PG NEET? They have issued an order that if you score a zero percentile – egg percentile – in the PG NEET exam, you can join a medical college and become a doctor. This is nonsense, and absurd,” he said.
