Tambaram: The CCTV cameras which were installed at the Sri Dhenugambal Nagar, Madambakkam was inaugurated by Tambaram Corporation Mayor Vasanthakumari Kamalakannan in the presence of Deputy Mayor G Kamaraj, Selaiyur Police Inspector R Murugesan and councillor A Natarajan.
The event was presided by the Sri Dhenugambal Nagar Residents Welfare Association president T S Gopalakrishnan.
The welcome address was delivered by the association secretary N Chandrasekaran.
It may be noted that the members of the association in July handed over a DD of Rs 1,00,000 to the Tambaram Corporation for the installation of the CCTV cameras in the locality under the ‘Namakku Naame scheme’.
The DD was handed over by the association members to Tambaram Corporation AE Thangadurai in the presence of Ward Councillor Natarajan
Association secretary N Chandrasekaran said that the work is likely to start after 15 days after completing the official process in the Corporation.
“As many as 16 cameras will be installed in the first and second street of the Dhenugambal Nagar in Madambakkam. Each street will get eight cameras,” he added.
Chandrasekaran said that the association was started in November 2022 to address the various issues of the residents in the locality.
“The first problem which we addressed was the water supply issue. Residents wanted to ensure that safety of the locality and hence the installation of the CCTV cameras have been taken up on priority,” he added.

The ‘Namakku Naame Thittam’ is aimed at improving the public participation in creation and maintenance of community infrastructure.
