TN govt issues clarification about early morning shows for Leo

Tambaram: With just less than a week left for the release of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Leo’ starring Vijay in the lead role, fans are eagerly anticipating confirmation on the possibility of early morning screenings.

However, the Tamil Nadu government has issued a fresh Government Order (GO) clarifying that the first screening of the film will commence only at 9 am in the state.

The state government had, on Wednesday, granted permission to the film’s team to hold one extra show of Leo for the first six days.

According to that GO, instead of four regular shows, theatres were allowed to run five shows from October 19 to 24.

As per the existing norms, theatres in Tamil Nadu are allowed to hold four shows a day.

With the special permission, theatres can hold one additional show. Though the makers had requested permission for 4 am and 7 am shows for ‘Leo’, the earlier GO didn’t mention the timing of the special show.

Making its position clear on the matter, the government announced that Team Leo can hold its first show at 9 am on October 19. “All theatres can screen only one special show, the opening show will start at 9 am and the last show will end at 1.30 am,” the GO signed by P Amudha, principal secretary to the government, noted.

‘Leo’ also features an ensemble cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Priya Anand, Gautam Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, and many others in significant roles.

The movie is produced by Seven Screen Studio, and the musical score is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The movie is all set to be released on 19 October.
