Celebration time at SRMIST
as Milan returns after two years

Actor Nani inaugurated the 15th edition of Milan at the T P Ganesan Auditorium of SRM Institute of Science and Technology.

“The energy here is simply great, it is fantastic, he said, reminding that there was a lack of such events which could allow the youngsters to display their talent in the past. SRMIST is a pan India institution and I have seen there is a lot of talent among the students here and I am impressed, I would like to be here whenever there is an opportunity,” he said after the inauguration.

Music composer Santhosh Narayanan performed a song which was enjoyed by the audience.

SRMIST founder chancellor T R Paarivendhar said the institution is a venue for a lot of events and Milan has a special place in that.

Nisha Ashokan, Associate Director of Student Affairs at SRMIST welcomed the gathering. vice chancellor of SRMIST Prof C Muthamizhchelvan, registrar of SRMIST S Ponnusamy, A Ravikumar, pro vice chancellor, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre were among others present.

More than 8,000 students took part in the inauguration of the event which is being conducted after a gap of two years.

A press release said that the theme for Milan this year is ‘Paracosm’ and it will go on for four days.

“There will be over 150 events, including online contests. Cash awards totalling Rs 9 lakhs is up for grabs for winners in these contests that would be conducted over a period of four days,” the release added.

There will be more than 40 events on the third day (4 March) of Milan which includes one of the festival’s most popular events – the fashion show where Mr. and Miss Milan will be selected and announced. The same evening, popular singer Karthik will perform live.

“Milan will conclude on Sunday with a stand-up comedy show by Sandeep Sharma. On the same day, sports, gaming, creative arts, literary, and dance choreo events too would be held. Over 2,500 students will volunteer to ensure the cultural festival is conducted smoothly,” the release added.
