CMRL to offer free return ride after India-Australia World Cup match

Tambaram: After the game, spectators of the India-Australia World Cup match at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk can catch a complimentary metro train from Government Estate metro station back home.

Along with the regular service hours, Chennai Metro Rail Limited has also extended train service until midnight.

CMRL has signed an MoU with Tamil Nadu Cricket Association to facilitate easy commuting for fans after the match.

They can produce their match tickets and board the trains. However, they may have to purchase a metro train ticket to reach Government Estate metro to go to the stadium.

A release said trains from government estate station would be operated towards Airport metro and Wimco Nagar depot metro based on the passenger crowd.

Trains will also be operated from Central metro to St Thomas Mount metro for every 15 minutes. Inter-corridor service will not be operated from 11pm to midnight.
