Women’s T20 World Cup Semi-Final: Australia Knock India Out, Enter 7th Straight Women’s T20 WC Final

So close, yet so far. India’s journey in the competition has been ended by Australia, extending their wait to lay hands on an ICC silverware.India crashed to a defeat vs Australia in their semi-final fixture of the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town, on Thursday.

Chasing a target of 173 runs, India reached 167/8 in 20 overs, with Harmanpreet Kaur’s half-century going in vain, losing by five runs. The India captain slammed 52 runs off 34 balls, including six fours and a maximum.

For Australia’s bowling department, Darcie Brown and Ashleigh Gardner were in good form and took two wickets each respectively. Initially, Beth Mooney was in brilliant form and grabbed a half-century as Australia posted 172/4 in 20 overs. Mooney slammed 54 runs off 37 balls, packed with seven fours and a six.

Meanwhile, captain Meg Lanning smacked an unbeaten knock of 49 runs off 34 balls, including four fours and two sixes. Shikha Pandey was in good bowling form for India and took two wickets, Deepti Sharma and Radha Yadav bagged a dismissal each.
