SRM School of Law conducts 8th annual National Moot Court competition

Law students from leading and prestigious institutions took part in the eighth national moot court competition organised at SRM School of Law.

A press release said that 26 teams from various national law colleges and other prestigious schools had registered for the competition, and 24 took part in the oral rounds.

At the valedictory function to mark the conclusion of the three-day event, A K Sriram, senior advocate, said that compared to the past, Moot Court contests now had increased in scale.

VIT School of Law, Chennai were the winner of the competition, and received a cash prize of Rs. 30,000, while Sastra School of Law, Thanjavur were runners-up.

Jenitha Dharshini from Sastra bagged the best speaker award while Kshiti Jain of School of Excellence in Law – Tamil Nadu Ambedkar Law University, Taramani bagged the best researcher award.

Tamil Nadu National Law University, Tiruchi bagged the best memorial award.

B Venugopal, Professor and Head, Department of Legal Studies, University of Madras, S Parthasarathy, Senior Advocate, High Court Judicature at Chennai, Louisal Ramesh, president of Women Lawyers Association, Chennai, and V Nalini, former President of Women Lawyers Association, Chennai were the guests of honour.

C A Gurudath, Dean School of Law, presided, and Vincent Comraj, professor, School of Law, offered his felicitations. K Parvathy Assistant Professor welcomed the gathering. Director (Sports) R Mohana Krishnan and Director (Communications) R Nandakummar were also present.
